A Fairy Tale Wedding Fit For A Bride.

I always like the variety of my job and recently had the pleasure to be invited to host Jo & Rob’s special day at Southsea Castle.

Southsea Castle Wedding Venue

It was my first visit to this delightful venue which was made more special when it decided to be a beautiful hot summer’s day  at the end of September. You can see from a few of the photos that the bridal couple had put their personal stamp on the day with a few clever ideas. You will also see it was my white wedding disco set up with my white speakers with just a little lighting which included some blue uplighters matching the wedding colour. Jo & Rob were big 60/70s soul fans and wanted me to personalise the wedding breakfast to their favourite genre of music. We also had talented magician Dean Nicholas working his way around the seated guests mesmerising them with his skills.

Sweet Treats

The speeches were highlighted by Jo’s dad, also called Jo, adding some great laughs with his joke telling. The first dance was an Andy Williams classic “ You’re just to be good to be true “ which soon had the family and friends joining in with the chorus.

Flip Flops for Dancing Feet

I added some fun during the evening when I invited the bridegroom, best man and ushers to the dance floor for a fun dance routine which helped rack up the atmosphere. It was really enjoyable with a great mixture of music from the wedding song list from 60s soul to some 90s floor fillers. With a 12pm finish and my arrival at the venue at 10am and still the packing up and drive back to Bournemouth, it had been a long day. But very happy that Jo and Rob had enjoyed their day and I was honoured to be part of it. Wishing them all the best for the future and looking forward to catching up with the newly married couple on their return from honeymoon.

Finding The Right Wedding DJ / Entertainer

Finding the right DJ is essential to having a great wedding reception.

You will find a few DJ’s in your area and they will range in experience from casual DJ’s to professional wedding and corporate DJ’s.

The question is would you leave this special day in the hands of an amateur. A professional wedding DJ will know how a wedding reception proceeds along.

During Wedding Planning, brides say their highest priority is their attire, followed by the reception site and caterers – reception entertainment is among the least of their priorities. Within a week after their reception, 78% of brides say they would have made the wedding entertainment their highest priority.

The cost of entertainment at your reception is only a small portion of your overall budget. According to Modern Bride Magazine, only 5% of your overall budget will be spent on entertainment, yet over twice as many guests will remember the performance of your DJ or entertainer, over any other aspect of your reception. When you’re spending thousands of pounds on a once-in-a-lifetime dream event, does it make sense to save a few pounds by hiring second-rate entertainment?

Price is what many couples initially focus on and this is entirely understandable as your wedding budget must have some limitation. The main consideration must be priority; you need to ask yourself how important is the entertainment and how much of your budget you will allocate.

When compared to other party related expenses, a mobile dj is a bargain. The national estimated cost of a wedding reception is well over £15,000. Photographers can cost as much as £4,000; high-quality digital video £800-£3,000; your wedding cake £500-£1,200, basic meal service (chicken) for 150 guests £5,000. Don’t forget flowers, invitations, dresses and tuxedo rentals, limos and even postage

Ask yourself this question; is the entertainment less than 5% responsible for the success of your reception? The feedback from bride & grooms state that a quality DJ contributed up to 70% to the success of their reception. Wedding DJ’s prices range from as little as £100 to £1500!

There are many part time DJ’s and entertainers with sound systems and a collection of music but they can lack the knowledge and experience necessary to take charge of entertainment that needs to be specifically tailored to your requirements.

‘I realise how important it is to you and how much you want everything to be perfect. So, I will work with you to help make your day a celebration never to be forgotten’.
