Wonderful Wedding Memories and Celebrations

Its already a very busy time of the year with some lovely and special weddings days completed.
I have visited some lovely wedding venues across Dorset and Hampshire and met some lovely people.
In this blog I’m going to share some photos from some recent weddings before and after with examples of not only the set up but also uplighting.

Rosie & Will held their wedding reception at Lulworth Courtyard Near Wareham on a lovely spring day in May.It was great fun party with a very lively young crowd and I made sure I played all of the couples favourite songs from the list provided. The room has white walls so it was perfect to add some of the requested uplighting to compliment the wedding colours.Rosie and Will
Testimonial – The sound system and lighting look and sounded great. You were a brilliant DJ! Would definitely use again for a hassle free service- Thank you Rosie & Will

Also in May I was invited to DJ and entertain at Jeannette & Tims special day in Weymouth at The Rembrandt Hotel. Musical choices of the evening was 60/70s classics and all of the favourite party tunes. A highlight of the evening was when Jeannette and Tim took to the stage to sing their rendition of “You to me are everything“ by The Real Thing which brought a standing ovation.

Maggie & Ian had seen me at a 50th Birthday party and I was delighted when they requested my services for their wedding day.I was asked to host the wedding as MC and play requested music for the wedding breakfast. A really special day at the delightful Bridge House Hotel at Longham.

I had a couple of meetings to plan Nicola & Kevins wedding day at Harmans Cross Village Hall which included a visit to the hall to advise on how I could add some colour to the room.

The wedding couple arrived by steam train at the local station to a huge welcome. It was a pleasure to work with talented singer Nick Tatham again. This all made for a pleasant and memorable day.

Testimonial – Other than Richards personality, one of the other reasons we choose Party Nights was because of the look and style of the White DISCO set up. We hadn’t seen the equipment in full use before the event but were blown away by the quality and look of the set up. Elegant, classy just want we wanted. Both adults and small people alike were transfixed by the disco ball style lighting as it bounced and projected off the walls. (Sorry didn’t know the technical name for this bit of kit). I recall standing outside the venue looking in, and the venue lighting looked stunning. We also opted to have some additional uplighters at the venue. Between ourselves and Richard we weren’t too sure how effective they would be given our wedding date was almost the longest day of the year. Nothing was too much trouble for Richard and he was very obliging in coming to the venue to try out the uplighters in advance of the date so we could see what they would look like before we committed. So glad he did. My partner was sceptical at first but they totally transformed the venue and created the special atmosphere which we both agreed was so worth the additional cost and a decision we are very glad we made. We enjoyed the preferred weddings songlist I think we found the ‘do not play list’ the most helpful of all.
Thank you for encouraging our guests to clap along to our first dance. The way I felt in the moment when I heard everyone clapping along will stay with both of us for a very long time. Thank you for helping to create some very special memories on our day. Nicola & Kevin Thank you
If we can be of any help please contact us. Thank you

Make Your Wedding Unique To You

When I have conversations with wedding couples I will always try and make their special day as personal as possible. To me every wedding should be different because every couple is unique. No two weddings are the same and no I don’t play the same music at every wedding as that would be extremely boring.

Paul and Hannah who had seen me at a previous wedding had already planned their day wanting it to be quite laid back but with lot’s of fun bits for everybody to talk about. It was held at Lychett Minster School and you will see plenty of photos on the FB page including the excellent video that was created by the Best Man Steve as part of his wedding speech. The wedding was Dinosaur themed especially for the children including a request if I could do some Dinosaur Balloon models which was a first for me. There were lots of special touches including a ” Bake Off ” style fun cake competition.

It was a memorable day with lots of laughter and yes my first attempts at balloon modelling went down very well with the little ones.

Hi Richard and Cheryl.

Please find our responses below.

But in addition we wanted to express the many compliments from our guests about the attention to detail for the requested (and somewhat obscure) jazz requests during the afternoon tea, the professional approach and flexibility towards our own individual and slightly crazy style! Hannah loved that it sounded like her own playlist. So much so that personal musical memories between people made for extra moments of happiness.

We chose PARTY NIGHTS OUT because you provided a clear description of what was included, the price was in our budget, and when we met Richard he was enthusiastic about our slightly wacky ideas and was keen to embrace our personal style and theme.

In addition we also had the benefit of a personal recommendation from my best man Steve. Richard was smart and professional throughout. He’s also a funny guy but not as funny as me and Steve!!!
Thank you for learning to make balloon dinosaurs!!
In particular I noticed (as was discussed), a relaxed attitude towards having an ebb and flow onto the dance floor and acceptance that it would be full and then empty.

Encouragement in leading a few dances was great and balanced in equal measure by quiet discretion.

I was impressed with Richard’s ability to announce the various things that we wanted people to participate in. Especially the background music for the Bake Off!

Richard was top notch from start to finish and cleared away promptly too which was noticed and appreciated.

Our day was perfect and thank you for being central to its success.

Paul and Hannah

Happy New Year

A belated Happy New Year and as always looking forward to a busy year of Birthday Celebrations/ Weddings / Corporate Events & Christmas parties.

We had a very enjoyable 2016 with some memorable events and some new clients who have added us as their preferred supplier.

To us every event is special and we enjoy the challenge of working with clients  who may want something different. They may not just want music but a bit of fun be it a Halloween or Christmas event.

Being a very experienced DJ and presenter we can add fun games and interactive entertainment. But if it’s just about the music it can be tailored to how you want it.

I am now celebrating 40 years in the entertainment business and still enjoy the buzz of a busy dancefloor and the crowd not wanting the night night to end.

We are always here at the end of  a phone or an email, and if needed will to meet you to discuss your celebration. Below are some pictures and just one of the many thank yous we get from bookings through the year. Love the 50th Birthday cake at the end.

A glowing thank you from a recent wedding in Southampton.
Feeling very proud-

From the initial contact to the end of the event, “Party Nights Out” were absolutely brilliant. Paperwork efficiently sorted, communication throughout second to none. Richard captured the type of event we wanted, which was a pretty informal wedding reception. He masterminded a build that accounted for the “pre – beer” build up, when everyone is still fairly stiff, he entertained the youngsters (3yrs +) so effectively that they didn’t end up running amok, and as the evening went on he, in effect, MC’d the whole thing, including 2 sets from a live band, some entertaining antics involving wigs, gold jackets and Motown will make me chuckle every time I think of it
Just a great big thank you, the night still remains the talking point..
You sir are a superstar

I cannot recommend these guys highly enough.

A Fairy Tale Wedding Fit For A Bride.

I always like the variety of my job and recently had the pleasure to be invited to host Jo & Rob’s special day at Southsea Castle.

Southsea Castle Wedding Venue

It was my first visit to this delightful venue which was made more special when it decided to be a beautiful hot summer’s day  at the end of September. You can see from a few of the photos that the bridal couple had put their personal stamp on the day with a few clever ideas. You will also see it was my white wedding disco set up with my white speakers with just a little lighting which included some blue uplighters matching the wedding colour. Jo & Rob were big 60/70s soul fans and wanted me to personalise the wedding breakfast to their favourite genre of music. We also had talented magician Dean Nicholas working his way around the seated guests mesmerising them with his skills.

Sweet Treats

The speeches were highlighted by Jo’s dad, also called Jo, adding some great laughs with his joke telling. The first dance was an Andy Williams classic “ You’re just to be good to be true “ which soon had the family and friends joining in with the chorus.

Flip Flops for Dancing Feet

I added some fun during the evening when I invited the bridegroom, best man and ushers to the dance floor for a fun dance routine which helped rack up the atmosphere. It was really enjoyable with a great mixture of music from the wedding song list from 60s soul to some 90s floor fillers. With a 12pm finish and my arrival at the venue at 10am and still the packing up and drive back to Bournemouth, it had been a long day. But very happy that Jo and Rob had enjoyed their day and I was honoured to be part of it. Wishing them all the best for the future and looking forward to catching up with the newly married couple on their return from honeymoon.

Finding The Right Wedding DJ / Entertainer

Finding the right DJ is essential to having a great wedding reception.

You will find a few DJ’s in your area and they will range in experience from casual DJ’s to professional wedding and corporate DJ’s.

The question is would you leave this special day in the hands of an amateur. A professional wedding DJ will know how a wedding reception proceeds along.

During Wedding Planning, brides say their highest priority is their attire, followed by the reception site and caterers – reception entertainment is among the least of their priorities. Within a week after their reception, 78% of brides say they would have made the wedding entertainment their highest priority.

The cost of entertainment at your reception is only a small portion of your overall budget. According to Modern Bride Magazine, only 5% of your overall budget will be spent on entertainment, yet over twice as many guests will remember the performance of your DJ or entertainer, over any other aspect of your reception. When you’re spending thousands of pounds on a once-in-a-lifetime dream event, does it make sense to save a few pounds by hiring second-rate entertainment?

Price is what many couples initially focus on and this is entirely understandable as your wedding budget must have some limitation. The main consideration must be priority; you need to ask yourself how important is the entertainment and how much of your budget you will allocate.

When compared to other party related expenses, a mobile dj is a bargain. The national estimated cost of a wedding reception is well over £15,000. Photographers can cost as much as £4,000; high-quality digital video £800-£3,000; your wedding cake £500-£1,200, basic meal service (chicken) for 150 guests £5,000. Don’t forget flowers, invitations, dresses and tuxedo rentals, limos and even postage

Ask yourself this question; is the entertainment less than 5% responsible for the success of your reception? The feedback from bride & grooms state that a quality DJ contributed up to 70% to the success of their reception. Wedding DJ’s prices range from as little as £100 to £1500!

There are many part time DJ’s and entertainers with sound systems and a collection of music but they can lack the knowledge and experience necessary to take charge of entertainment that needs to be specifically tailored to your requirements.

‘I realise how important it is to you and how much you want everything to be perfect. So, I will work with you to help make your day a celebration never to be forgotten’.
